Mrs. Simms’ 2nd grade class has been practicing their reading skills by playing a UFLI lesson tic-tac-toe game with partners!

Students in S. Heaney’s fourth grade class are wrapping up their scientific investigations unit by conducting a lab. Yesterday, students did qualitative and quantitative measurements of a gummy bear. Today, they soaked them in different solutions to see which one made the gummy bear grow the largest!

This week in art class, pre-school and kindergarten students are having fun creating painting and creating! They listened to the story, “The Dot” by Peter Reynolds and then created their own artwork inspired by the story!

Mrs. Jenkins' class practiced the scientific method by doing a penny experiment. Students experimented to find out if water, water and soap, or salt and vinegar would clean a penny the best. The result…salt and vinegar!!

While many kindergartners and preschoolers experienced their first day of elementary school today, so did our very own Mr. Conville. We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Conville to the Yowell Elementary family as our new Dean of Students! Mr. Conville joins us after many successful years at Culpeper Middle School, where he built strong relationships with students, families, and staff while fostering a positive school culture. With a passion for student success and a commitment to creating a safe and supportive learning environment, Mr. Conville brings both experience and enthusiasm to his new role. We’re excited to have him join our team and look forward to the great things ahead!
