Culpeper Middle School Principal Jesse Blackburn received the School Administrator Award from the Virginia Association of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America at the annual State Leadership and Recognition Conference on Saturday, April 5th, 2025, at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

This award recognizes school administrators who have given outstanding support to the organization on the local, state, and national levels. Mrs. Leigh Powell, Culpeper Middle School Family and Consumer Science teacher, nominated Mr. Blackburn for the School Administrator Award. Mr. Blackburn is very devoted to FCCLA on all levels. According to Powell, “Mr. Blackburn has been a passionate advocate for FCCLA, consistently promoting the program within our school and community, attending conferences and events, and encouraging student leadership and involvement. In addition to his support of FCCLA, he is a respected educational leader known for fostering a positive school culture, improving academic outcomes, and mentoring both students and staff toward excellence.”

Mr. Blackburn fully supports the mission and goals of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America as well as Family and Consumer Sciences education. Without their support, students could not take advantage of the many opportunities offered through FCCLA. Mr. Blackburn encourages all students to take Family and Consumer Sciences classes and become involved in FCCLA.

FCCLA is a dynamic and effective national student organization that helps middle and high school students become leaders and address important family, career, and community issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education. The organization has more than 200,000 members across the country. Since the organization’s founding in 1945, FCCLA has involved more than 10 million youth.
