Students at CMS are making a meaningful impact by reaching out to communities in Western North Carolina affected by Hurricane Helene. As part of a school initiative, students wrote heartfelt letters to support both families who were impacted by the storm and the first responders who are working tirelessly to assist in relief efforts.
Some students expressed their sympathy and encouragement to the affected families, offering words of comfort during this challenging time. Meanwhile, others focused their letters on thanking the first responders, recognizing their bravery and dedication to helping rebuild the communities hit hardest by the hurricane.
These letters were sent to Ag in the Classroom, a program organized by the North Carolina Farm Bureau. The program's organizers will ensure the letters are distributed to community members in Western North Carolina, providing a small but powerful reminder of the widespread support they have in their recovery journey.
In addition to the letter writing campaign, the Student Council Association (SCA) sold lollipops at lunch for $1.00. They raised a total of $493 which will all go directly to Hurricane Relief Efforts.
This initiative not only fosters a spirit of empathy and community among CMS students but also shows the importance of standing together in the face of adversity. Through their thoughtful words, the students have extended a helping hand to those in need, showing that even small acts of kindness can have a large impact.
