What do you call a person who read ten Virginia Readers’ Choice books and passed at least eight of the ten quizzes? A Virginia Readers’ Choice Champion!

On March 20, 2024, Virginia Readers’ Choice Champions gathered in the Culpeper Middle School library to celebrate their accomplishments. A total of thirty-one students and twenty teachers earned Champion status this school year. The Champions filled the library with pride and excitement.

Teacher Champions led each team of randomly selected student Champions. The teams raced through the halls in an epic scavenger hunt. Along the way, Hallway Hotshots required them to sing “Happy Birthday”, play Pin the Tail on a Donkey, do jumping jacks, and act out the “I’m a Little Teapot” song. Teams competed in skill games overseen by teacher Champions, called Guardians of the Games. In the end, everyone worked together to complete a jigsaw puzzle showing the ten Virginia Readers’ Choice book covers.

As the day drew to a close and the echoes of laughter and camaraderie filled the Culpeper Middle School halls, it was evident that the spirit of reading had woven its magic yet again. The Virginia Readers’ Choice Champions, both students and teachers alike, had not only conquered the literary landscape but had forged bonds of friendship and shared accomplishment that would endure far beyond the confines of the school year.
